15. Preparation of Test Curve

ref5

A sample test curve is enclosed as annexure-4. Application of test tolerances has also been shown. The following value of tolerance factors are allowed by ISO 9906 for Grade 1 testing:

16. Varification of Guarantee

test

A tolerance cross with the horizontal line ±tqQG and the vertical line +tHHG is drawn through the guarantee point QGHG.
The guarantee on the flow rate and the head will be considered to have been met if the HQ curve intersects or at least touches the vertical and /or the horizontal lines. The efficiency shall be derived from the measured H(Q) curve where it is intersected by the straight line passing through the specified duty point QG, HG and the zero of Q-H-axis and from where a vertical line intersects the n(Q) curve. The guarantee condition on efficiency is within tolerance if the efficiency value at this point of intersection is higher than or at least equal to nG(1-tn).

17. Pre Test Checks

ref7

Check for air in the mercury manometer, when used.

Check the calibration of compound gauge.

Check for correct direction of rotation.

Check for selection of electrical instruments employed and their calibration.

Check whether the valve fitted in the delivery line is in closed condition.

Check whether the valve fitted on the suction line is in open position.

Check that the bearings are properly greased.

Check for the fitting of pressure gauges and flow meters at the distances as per the governing standard.

Check for the tightness of the pipe fittings.

Check for the cleanliness of the pressure taps.

Check for priming.

Check for the free rotation of pump and motor on-line.

Check for the correct position of the pick-up of digital non-contact type tachometer when used.

Check for the correct range of pressure gauges employed and their calibration.
